Hey teachers! Is getting your students talking on Mondays a struggle? We’ve all been there! At Lina Edu Erasmus+ Courses Croatia, we specialise in helping educators create dynamic learning experiences. Today, we share quick and easy activities to jumpstart your language and art classes!

Learning motivation is one of our course priorities, so we deal with working motivation at the beginning of the week.

Tips for Teachers to Implement in your Language class

#1 How to engage students to speak actively on Monday or Tuesday morning?

Try this quick exercise in just a few steps.

  1. Prepare several emojis and let them guess what’s in your mind!
    For example:emoji example linaedu
  2. To spice that little bit up  let AI generate a few pictures that fit the emojis sequence.
  3. Brainstorm their ideas.
  4. Let them write in short, 35 words are enough, their suggestions.
  5. Then give them your prompt and let them compare theirs with yours:

It is a rainy, windy day, and a middle-aged female teacher with very short blonde hair, brown eyes and black glasses wants to go for a cup of coffee and cake and enjoy the sun with her friends.

#2 Transform your teaching with the art of photography!

Here are three quick tips on how teachers can incorporate photography principles and visuals into classroom activities:

  1. Storytelling Through Photos: Encourage students to tell a story using a series of images. This enhances creativity and narrative skills and allows a deeper understanding of subjects.
  2. Visual Learning Aids: Use photographs to explain complex concepts. Visuals can simplify abstract ideas, making them more accessible and memorable for students.
  3. Photography Assignments: Assign photography projects related to your curriculum. This integrates technology and art, engaging students in active learning while exploring the world around them.

Photography makes learning more engaging and helps develop critical thinking and observational skills. Dive deeper into the visual world and watch your classroom come alive!

Tips for Teachers to Implement in your Art class

#1 Bring History to Life: Glagolitic Script in Relief

Our creative Art teacher Ana is sharing her brilliant idea with you on the topic:

Relief-plastic texture.

Preparation and performing: 2 classes (90 minutes)

As a part of the preparation, teacher Ana and students talk about the different curves, hollows, and bulges of relief in nature.

She introduced the students to different kinds of reliefs by sculpting three of them.

Students observe and notice the way that material is treated. They notice different textures on the surface of the sculpture or relief.

Making relief on the foil

Activities:

  1. Make a drawing
  2. Transfer the drawing from the paper to the foil sheet using a pencil or a pen
  3. Use a soft base under the foil sheet
  4. Using a pencil, a pen or a spike and pressing on the foil, make dots, lines, surfaces
  5. Form the surface you want from the bulge that comes out on the other side of the Foil sheet
  6. Spread Indian ink on the foil sheet and leave it dry
  7. Leave ink in the hollows and wipe the rest of the extra ink (use wet hankies)
  8. The hollows need to be patinated to get the final look of old gold, silver or bronze

You can see Glagolitic letters, the oldest known Slavic script that was used in Croatia from the mid-9th century, done by Ana’s students.

We hope these activities inspired you to bring creativity into your classroom! Remember, Lina Edu Erasmus+ Courses offers a variety of professional development programs designed to empower educators.
