TEST13722

At Lina Edu, we believe learning should be active, engaging, and rooted in real-world cultural experiences. That’s why, as part of our Erasmus+ teacher training courses in Split, Croatia, we’ve developed a unique mindfulness-based gamification activity – a specially designed scavenger hunt called “Discovering Split” (or as our participants like to call it: Beat Educator Ivana).

This activity blends mindfulness techniques with game-based learning, inviting participants to explore the historic Mediterranean city of Split while sharpening their focus, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Why Mindfulness with Gamification Works

Mindfulness is all about being fully present and aware of your surroundings, while gamification brings fun, challenge, and motivation into the learning process. Combining the two allows participants to learn more effectively, engage more deeply, and retain knowledge longer.

Our scavenger hunt takes place in the heart of Split, weaving together history, geography, art, language skills, media literacy, and teamwork into one unforgettable experience.

Designed by an Experienced Educator

The game was created by Ivana, an educator with over 25 years of teaching practice. Drawing from her extensive experience in field-class teaching, she developed a methodologically and pedagogically sound activity that enhances both personal and professional skills.

What Makes “Discovering Split” Unique?

1. Cross-Curricular Integration

The puzzles require connecting knowledge across multiple subjects – history, geography, art, English, Italian, religious studies, ecology, and civic education – making it an ideal interdisciplinary learning tool.

2. Logical Thinking Challenges

Instead of straightforward questions, participants must find the question within the puzzle itself. This encourages deeper thinking, intentional memory recall, and advanced problem-solving skills.

3. Media and Information Literacy

Players must use the internet to find answers – but not just any answers. The challenge lies in identifying reliable information sources, a vital skill in today’s fast-paced digital world.

4. Teamwork and Collaboration

The game is played in teams, enriched with team-building elements that strengthen bonds, improve communication, and increase the chance of winning.

5. Time-Limited Competition

While scavenger hunts aren’t usually time-restricted, adding a countdown makes the challenge more exciting and enhances collaborative problem-solving under pressure.

6. Authentic Sightseeing of Split

Ivana, a Split native, guides participants to locations only a true local would know, sharing fascinating stories and cultural insights along the way. This isn’t just sightseeing – it’s active, gamified learning in the streets of one of Europe’s most beautiful coastal cities.

Cultural Heritage at the Heart of Learning

As with all Lina Edu Erasmus+ courses, the game is deeply connected to Mediterranean (Dalmatian-Croatian) culture and European heritage. Our aim is to raise awareness of the richness and value of cultural diversity while building essential professional competencies for educators.
